Life IS...where is the meaning?

Here's the debate...does life have meaning or do we give it meaning? A sub-debate might be added called 'why do bad things happen to good people (and who determines if they are in fact bad things and good people)?' If Life just IS does that mean everything is random and without meaning? Is meaning a purely human invention? What about karma and soul contracts and balance? Are these too concoctions of the human mind? Do our thoughts create reality and if so who is thinking up all these natural disasters and accidents and murders and genocide? Why does it exist? If there was no human being observing would life be the same if indeed it did exist at all?
