CHANGE YOUR BELIEFS, CHANGE YOUR LIMITATIONSOnce you understand that your limitations originate within your mind, you have the option of changing them. Every belief is a choice. When you choose your beliefs, you choose your limitations. When you change your beliefs, you change your limitations.
Changing your beliefs about yourself doesn’t require superhuman powers. You don’t have to be a genius or earn an advanced degree in no limit thinking. Ordinary intellectual powers are sufficient for the job. All you need to do is choose your beliefs well.
Everyone who realizes their dreams has chosen well. When they examine their beliefs about who they are and what they can do with their life, they don’t pre-select any limitations. They fearlessly move in the direction of their dreams acting as if their dreams are possible. They act as if they cannot fail, and they go as far as they can for as long as they can. When they die, they discover their limits, but then it doesn’t matter. Until that happens, they refuse to die before their time.
LIMITATIONS ARE PLAUSIBLE SELF-DECEPTIONSLimitations are a way that you say no to life while pretending life is saying no to you. They are plausible self-deceptions adopted by the Life Long Disoriented. Limitations are prefabricated excuses for every failure to do what you want to do and be what you want to be. No one blames you for being held back by all the limitations you have adopted. Limitations are a subtle form of negativity that is socially acceptable. They don’t have a bad sound or smell. It even has the appearance of maturity to not struggle with reality and to accept the limitations that appear to be present in the world.
LIFE IS A LABORATORY FOR TESTING YOUR LIMITATIONS
Life is a laboratory for testing the limitations found in your mind. Although limitations appear real, appearances are deceiving. The only way to find out if they are real is to test them. You can talk about them and look at them from every angle. You can think about them and analyze them. You can ask your family and friends about them. Still, you never know if they are real until you test them.
The Life Long Disoriented don’t understand that limitations first happen in their mind. When limitations pop into their mind, they accept them as fact rather than test them. That is one of the reasons why they lead such miserable lives. They are saddled by limitations that exist only in their mind.
Testing limitations is the only way to reach your dreams. When you test them, you always find that you can do more than you thought you could. It’s rare to discover you can do less, unless you don’t really try.
Most of your limitations disappear when you do two things. First, you act as if your dreams are possible. Second, you act as if you cannot fail. You don’t need to worry about your limitations. Most of them vanish when exposed to the power of persistent action.
BARRIERS OR HURDLES?
Many obstacles are found on the path to your dreams. Obstacles take the form of either barriers or hurdles. There is no difference between barriers and hurdles except for the way you deal with them in your mind. When obstacles appear, one person sees barriers and another sees hurdles.
Those who see barriers look for their limits, and they are good quitters. They make quitting their specialty. When they see a barrier, they instantly know this is as far as they can go. Those who see hurdles approach the same obstacles and jump over them.
There are many obstacles in life. All of your great adventures will be found on the far side of those obstacles. All of your dreams are found on the far side as well. Whether obstacles are barriers or hurdles depends upon how you treat obstacles in your mind.
If you are an expert at building big, strong, impenetrable barriers, you will never experience the adventures found on the far side of those obstacles. If you study at the University of Life and have a Ph.D. in the architecture and construction of impenetrable barriers, you spend your life discovering all the reasons why you cannot do what you want. You develop expertise in how to gracefully surrender your dreams, and give excellent lectures on the futility of life. You join the ranks of the Life Long Disoriented who studied at the same university with advanced degrees in failure, quitting, and broken dreams.
Those who see hurdles enroll in different programs in the University of Life. These people are experts at jumping hurdles. They specialize in their demolition. They take courses in how to tunnel under hurdles. For these people, hurdles have nothing to do with limitations. Hurdles are merely the challenges they face as they move from one adventure to the next. The only barrier that ever stops them occurs on the day they die. Until then, they are too busy jumping, tunneling, tearing down, or going around the hurdles of life.
